Privacy policy

Last updated: 10 June 2026

MeteoStorms (“we”, “us”) operates meteostorms.com — a service that shows live geomagnetic and weather conditions and helps weather-sensitive people track how they feel. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what the service needs to work, we never sell your personal data, and your wellbeing journal stays private to your account.

1. Information we collect

We collect three kinds of information:

  • Account data — your email address, display name and a password (stored only as a secure hash) when you create an account, or your basic profile (name, email, picture) when you sign in with a provider such as Google.
  • Content you create — wellbeing journal entries (mood, symptoms, notes), messages you send to the AI assistant, and preferences such as language, city and time zone. Journal entries describe how you feel and are therefore sensitive: we treat them as private, never publish them, and process them only to show the journal and its analytics to you.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and basic request logs, collected automatically to keep the service secure and to understand overall usage.

2. How we use your information

We use this information to:

  • provide and operate the service — your forecast, journal, AI assistant and the notifications you request;
  • personalise what you see — your language, location and time zone;
  • generate the AI texts you ask for, such as the wellbeing report in your journal;
  • send account emails such as sign-in verification and password reset;
  • keep the service secure, prevent abuse and debug problems;
  • improve MeteoStorms using aggregated, non-identifying usage statistics.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies: a language cookie (ms_lang) that remembers your interface language, a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and browser storage for preferences such as your chosen city.

Some pages may show advertising served by Google AdSense, which can set its own cookies — see Google’s privacy policy for details. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will keep working, but sign-in and your language choice may not be remembered.

4. AI processing

AI features — the assistant chat, plain-language data summaries and the journal wellbeing report — are generated with OpenAI models. To produce a text we send only the input needed for that request (for example, your chat message or aggregated journal metrics) to OpenAI, acting as our data processor. We do not sell your data and we do not use it to train models of our own.

5. Third-party services

MeteoStorms relies on the following third parties:

  • NOAA SWPC and GFZ Potsdam — public sources of space-weather data; they receive no personal data from us;
  • Google — optional sign-in (OAuth) and advertising (AdSense);
  • OpenAI — generation of AI texts, as described above;
  • Telegram — optional notification channels; joining them is governed by Telegram’s own terms and privacy policy.

6. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell or rent personal data. We share it only with the service providers listed above (and only to the extent they need it to run the service), when the law requires us to disclose it, or — if MeteoStorms is ever part of a merger or acquisition — with the successor, in which case this policy continues to apply.

7. Data retention, export and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can export your journal as a JSON file at any time from the journal page. To delete your account and the personal data linked to it, email us — we honour deletion requests within 30 days unless the law requires us to keep specific records longer.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, export and delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.

9. Security

We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures: all traffic is encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are stored only as secure hashes, and access to personal data is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information accordingly.

10. International transfers

Our servers are located in the European Union. Some processors (such as Google and OpenAI) may process data outside your country; where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.

11. Children

MeteoStorms is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will post the new version on this page and update the date above; for significant changes we will show a notice on the site.

13. Contact us

For any questions or requests about this policy or your data, contact us at: webmaster@meteostorms.com
