How MeteoStorms handles data

What we ingest, how observations differ from forecasts, how time and uncertainty are presented, and where the limits are.

Sources, states and time

Space-weather data comes from NOAA SWPC, the planetary Kp index from GFZ Potsdam, and solar-event context from NASA DONKI. Weather data comes from MET Norway. We identify the source alongside the relevant view.

Observed values and forecasts are labelled separately. Kp is a planetary index resolved in three-hour intervals; it is not rescaled into a city-specific Kp. Geomagnetic latitude is used only as context for modelled aurora visibility.

NOAA feeds are checked about every 15 minutes, GFZ about every 30 minutes, NASA DONKI about hourly, and MET Norway weather about every six hours. Upstream publication delays can still apply, so the visible timestamp is the best freshness indicator.

Uncertainty, health and corrections

NOAA's detailed forecast covers roughly three days. The 27-day outlook is a lower-confidence planning guide, not a precise day-by-day prediction. MeteoStorms does not publish a retrospective accuracy score because we have not yet measured one.

Research may describe possible correlations between environmental conditions and wellbeing, but Kp is not a symptom probability. MeteoStorms does not diagnose, predict an individual's symptoms, or replace qualified medical advice.

Source revisions, delayed feeds and processing errors can occur. We show timestamps where available and correct confirmed errors; to report one, write to webmaster@meteostorms.com

Where our data comes from

Every figure on MeteoStorms traces back to an official, openly published source. We do not produce space-weather measurements ourselves — we read, translate and explain them.
